　　本部战争片是对伟大的卫国战争（1941-1945）胜利七十周年的献礼。它围绕着主人公帕维尔•祖博夫的故事展开，他是一名学校老师，作一个老师是他的人生使命。帕维尔所在的村庄被法西斯占领。他相信着基本的人类价值，比如爱情和家庭。然而，一系列事件导致的变化改变了他对生活的认知，使他回到现实。在战争中，敌人逐步显露出其真面目。帕维尔必须做出不易的选择：是生存下去并适应新政权，还是为他的家人，爱情，国土，理想和信念而战。

　　哈里斯（迈克尔·雷德格瑞夫 Michael Redgrave 饰）是一位教授古典文学的教师，他温文尔雅极具气质，一生都勤勤恳恳地工作做人。然而，某一日，他竟然遭到了解雇，美其名曰“提前退休”，而他的学生们竟然完全不以为意。与此同时，哈里斯亦发现，自己毕生研究的古典文学，如今毫无价值，而自己则变成了一个无人问津的老古董。

　　故事以一条全身纯白的巨型鲸鱼莫比敌为中心发展，它是一条被水手们视为魔鬼化身的凶猛鲸鱼。船长阿哈伯在捕捉它的过程中被咬掉了一条腿，这种屈辱与伤痛更激发起他一定要打败这条巨鲸的决心。

　　劳碌半生的平田周造（桥爪功 饰）定年退休，而今这个老头优哉游哉，日常和老友们打高尔夫球散心，玩乐过后再来到居酒屋和风韵犹存的老板娘佳代（风吹纯 饰）调笑一番，生活好不惬意。这一日，当他一如往常醉醺醺回到家中时，看似逆来顺受的老婆富子（吉行和子 饰）居然提出离婚的请求，登时令周造酒醒了大半。次日醒来，富子依然没有改变主意，周造的心情因此变得越来越糟。父母婚变，连带平田家的其他成员长子幸之助（西村雅彦 饰）、儿媳妇史枝（夏川结衣 饰）、女儿成子（中岛朋子 饰）、女婿泰藏（林家正藏 饰）、小儿子庄太（妻夫木聪 饰）及其女友宪子（苍井优 饰）也被卷入其中。

　　Unable to make progress with her ex-lesbian conversion path, a neurotic "All American" Jill tracks down her butch ex-girlfriend Jamie to prove to herself that she is no longer attracted to her. Strung along by guilt and desire, Jamie agrees to the preposterous plan of "dating" Jill so that Jill can close this chapter of her life and move forward with men. Meanwhile, David and Lola compete for the affections of José , a sexually ambiguous and seductive man from Brazil, and they compare notes on their differing opinions of his sexuality. As complications arise with Jill and Jamie&♯39;s relationship, Jill starts to see José as her ticket out. However, when the love triangles shift and realign, Jamie has her own identity crisis that she is ill-equipped to handle. A mix of over-the-top comedy, sharp wit, and pathos, "Heterosexual Jill" rides the edge of laughter and pain, desire and repression, and explores the complicated attachment to one&♯39;s sense of self in the face of love.

　　Synopsis
　　"Falsely accused as the murderer of my own husband... Oh, the cruel machinations of fate!" A female teacher (Lee Yong-ae) gives shelter to an escaped convict, but her husband, misconstruing her intentions, reacts violently and accidentally stabs himself to death in the process. The teacher is charged with her husband&♯39;s murder, but fortunately the prosecutor on the case is a former student of hers, of whom she had taken painstaking care when she was working at an elementary school. Remembering her kindness to him, the prosecutor uncovers her innocence in court, and she is acquitted of the crime.

　　A Public Prosecutor and a Teacher is familiar to us for the performance of Shin Chool, Korea&♯39;s last silent movie narrator (known as "byeonsa"in Korean). Numerous critics have recommended the film, praising it as "a silent movie that allows us to examine the narrator-accompanied method of 16mm films" (Chung Jong-wha), "the work of Korea&♯39;s last silent movie narrator" (Kim Hong-joon), a movie that "reflects the public&♯39;s consciousness and has great historical value" (Lee Seung-hun), and "the archetypal new-school film" (Chung Sung-il). As evidenced by such commentary, A Public Prosecutor and a Teacherenjoys greater recognition for its historical value as the only surviving silent movie in Korea than for its artistic or technical aspects. What is ironic is the fact that this recognition derivesfrom a production and screening method that fell behind the times, as sound films (or "talkies") had already become the norm when the movie was first made. Its inclusion in the list is therefore based on its historical, social context rather than on the film itself.
