　　The subject of Danièle Huillet and Jean-Marie Straub’s Der Tod des Empedokles (The Death of Empedocles, 1987) is the Greek pre-Socratic philosopher Empedocles (c. 490 BC – 430 BC), who lived in the Greek colony of Agrigentum in Sicily. His theories are mentioned in several of Plato’s dialogues. He maintained that all matter is made up of four irreducible elements: water, earth, air and fire. A mystic and a poet, he is considered to be the founder of classical rhetoric. He is also thought to be the last Greek philosopher to write in verse; two fragments of his works survive: Katharmoi (Purifications) and Peri Phuseôs (On Nature). An advocate of democracy, he came into conflict with his fellow citizens of Agrigentum and, as result, was banished with his young disciple, Pausanius. When he was asked to return, he preferred to commit suicide by throwing himself into the active volcano at Mount Aetna.
　　The German writer Friedrich Hölderlin wrote two versions of Der Tod des Empedokles in 1798 and 1800, and a final third version in 1820, all three ultimately unfinished. They were conceived as five-act tragedies and all three differ in plot. According to Michael Hamburger, Hölderlin’s English-language translator,
　　the main reason why Hölderlin finished no version of the play must be that he remained too closely identified with Empedocles, at the very period in his life when his own view of the poet as philosopher, prophet and priest – and as tragic hero – was subject to perpetual crisis and re-examination.
　　Huillet-Straub’s The Death of Empedocles is based on Hölderlin’s first version (the longest of the three), whereas Black Sin is based on the third version.

　　The only colour film by Welles publicly released is another showcase of the absurdity of human nature. A Macau millionaire is told a legend about someone who is willing to pay a huge sum for someone who would sleep with his wife in order to produce an heir. In an act to make the legend real and to immortalise it, the millionaire finds Jeanne Moreau to be his wife and starts to search for the man who would make love to her. A potent performance by Welles and Moreau makes the film purely magical; a Golden Berlin Bear nominee for Berlin International Film Festival.

　　索科洛夫一向热衷于拍摄历史与权力题材电影，其代表作“权利四部曲”中的三部分别涉及：关于希特勒的《莫洛赫》、描写列宁的《遗忘列宁》以及有关日本裕仁天皇的《太阳》。而作为艺术爱好者的索科洛夫对文化收藏宝库的博物馆也是情有独钟，早在其2002的名作《俄罗斯方舟》中就曾取景圣彼得堡冬宫博物馆。此次新作《占领下的卢浮宫》更是直接将镜头对准世界四大博物馆之首的法国卢浮宫，定将上演一场有关艺术、政治与文化的历史纠葛。

　　伊凡尼（南尼·莫莱蒂 Nanni Moretti 饰）有一个和睦温暖的家庭，儿子安德烈和女儿艾琳更是让这个家庭乐也融融。而伊凡尼身为心理医生，常常接触到各式各样的心理病患者，从而更加珍惜目前的生活。然而生活的残酷随之而来，在一个看上去平常的早晨，却传来了一个令这个家庭为之崩溃的消息——儿子在潜水运动中遇上不测，不幸身亡。
　　伊凡尼一家顿时陷入了一篇黑暗当中，母亲终日以泪洗脸，姐姐艾琳压抑着痛苦照顾悲伤的父母，而父亲，更是因为过度悲痛而不能继续工作。而儿子空空如也的房间，深深刺痛了每个家人的心。
　　远方寄来一个女孩子的来信，来信成全了家人对儿子的追思，并令到这个家庭重新有了一丝生机。然而逝者如斯，各人内心的伤痛，只有时间能慢慢治疗。

　　Based on an unknown Schönberg opera from 1929, From Today Until Tomorrow explores one night in a not-quite loveless marriage. A husband and wife return from a party where she has flirted with another man, while he has cast an appraising eye toward an attractive, fashionably dressed acquaintance of his wife’s. Though each dreams, briefly, of leaving the marriage for the excitement and mystery of a new lover, in the end they decide stability and comfort are more important than the fleeting thrill of new romance. Directors Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet, who previously collaborated on two other films about music (The Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach, 1968, and Moses and Aaron, 1975), rely on long fixed shots in austere black-and-white so that the focus remains on the musical brilliance of Schönberg’s atonal score, performed here by 70 musicians. That Schönberg would choose such a relatively lighthearted message for his newly discovered musical language remains a mystery, especially since the conclusion reached by the husband and wife—to stick with the tried and true—seems directly at odds with Schönberg’s own philosophy of composing. It is just this juxtaposition, however, coupled with Straub and Huillet’s faithful presentation, that makes the opera a compelling addition to the Schönberg canon—and the film such a challenging and intriguing experience.

　　《红色木鸽》是莫瑞提首部在国际间获得票房斩获的影片。《红》片是描述一名共产党政要兼水球运动员米基磊，在车祸丧失记忆之后还硬被拖去参加水球比赛，而主角在比赛过程中所作的抉择，以及主角与他人甚或与自己的对话，则让影片在试图为意大利共产党重新定位的表象下（反映八十年代后期前苏联与东欧共党纷纷垮台所引发的政治认同危机），解构了共产主义、法西斯主义、资本主义以至天主教神权的诸多神话，成为当代意大利政局纷乱的“寓言"。同时，比赛进行间在游泳池畔还有影片《齐瓦哥医生》的电视播映，《齐》片的高潮甚至令众人围观而中断了比赛的进行。但当齐瓦哥猝死在广场上，那毫不知情、疾行离去的女主角既呼应着《甜蜜的梦》里非真实存在的女孩，更象征了政治理想的逝去与无回。        莫瑞提的头两部剧情长片《自给自足》与《Ecce Bombo》也成功为他塑造出了“分身"——米基磊·亚皮赛拉（Michele Apicella）。在1989年的《红色木鸽》（Palombella Rossa）之前，此角即持续出现在莫瑞提的片中，是个由莫瑞提亲自担纲、与周遭人常有隔阂、总陷入恋爱又带点自恋、同时不断寻求解答的行动派角色。

　　尼基与弗洛是一对儿女亲家，但二人的性格却截然相反，尼基严谨，做任何事都保持一种巨人作风，但弗洛就比较随和、开放。这两位炯异的人对即将离开罗马尼亚远赴美国的孩子们也持不同意见，一个希望儿女留在身边，另一个坚决支持出国，尼基的女儿因此更喜欢弗洛，到了美国后也给他写信，尼基因此心理不平衡，最终选择了谋杀弗洛里...

　　一群无薪的建筑工人们出海去异国寻找更好的生活，却一夜之间在海上消失了，被他们留在达喀尔的女人们则饱受莫名高烧之苦。17 岁的艾达私下为爱人苏雷曼（去世的工人之一）而哀悼，但是她已经被许配给另一个男人。她的新婚之夜发生了一场大火，随后一名年轻的警察被派去调查案情。但他不知道的是，这些愤愤不平的工人们回来了，而且已经变成了阴魂不散的、占有欲极强的幽灵。他们中的许多人都是为自己的不公待遇报仇，而苏雷曼却是出于不同的目的，他想要见艾达最后一面。

　　The lines start with “O Somma Luce” which is the title of the film and also the 67th line of the 33rd canto in “Paradiso” of Dante’s “Divine Comedy” to the end of “Paradiso”.  The film is completed with music and lines instead of emotions and narrations.  This is a recent attempt to combine film with literature.
　　The film begins with a black screen and the music of Edgard Varese. The BGM is “Deserts” that was recorded in 1954. After some moments of darkness, the music ends and a middle-aged man sits on a hill, reciting something. He is Giorgio Passerone, an Italian literature professor, and he is reading out of the last part of ‘Paradiso’ of Dante’s Divine Comedy. Jean-Marie Straub expressed how he thinks of Dante through a subtle accent and dialect. The director who had encoded many great artists and musicians including Bach, complete the combination of Dante and Varese, which could seem strange. (Lim Kyung Yong)

　　寄给狱中丈夫的包裹突然打回头，妻子别无选择只得远赴西伯利亚寻找答案。列宁巨像矗立，铁幕阴影无处不在，人人落魄失魂自我麻醉，对一切视若无睹。的士司机说「监狱助人生存」，妻子面对高墙却处处受尽屈辱， 丈夫依然下落不明，欲知真相代价沉重。启发自陀思妥耶夫斯基的《温柔女子》，撕破温柔尽现残酷，暴露极权压迫至今仍阴魂不散。洛兹尼萨以纯酿伏特加，为俄罗斯民族的苦难干杯，留在喉头的，是烧心灼热与苦涩回味。

　　阿里（福里斯特·惠特克 Forest Whitaker 饰）和母亲是从曾经惨绝人寰的种族屠杀中幸免于难的幸存者，虽然如今的他已然出人头地成为了开普敦警局重案组的负责人，但儿时充满了血腥和恐惧的回忆依然沉淀在他的内心之中，阴影挥之不去。
　　布莱恩（奥兰多·布鲁姆 Orlando Bloom 饰）是阿里的下属，他的家族成员曾经是种族隔离活动中的激进分子，不过这并没能够影响到他和阿里之间的信任和友谊。一连串凶杀案的发生和一种新型毒品的出现将城市推到了风口浪尖，直到这时，肩负着巨大压力的阿里才发现，那些他以为已经成为过去的事情，其实并没有真正的过去，也永远都不会过去。

　　阿兰．德龙主演的这部犯罪动作片，摒弃了一般银行抢劫后分赃不均而终被逮捕的老套情节，把劫宝的场面安排在飞机上进行，结局则是因家族内一次无意揭发的奸情而致西西里部落全被逮捕。影片布局可谓层次分明，有峰回路转之妙。从开幕西西里家族营救囚车中的萨丹开始，便推展出不少戏剧性的高潮，如阿兰．德龙如何外出召妓惹祸；保险公司随员的太太如何发现丈夫不在飞机上而在报警时认出阿兰．德龙；探长如何监视阿兰．德龙的妹妹而使西西里兄弟被捕等，这些设计都能顺里成章而前后呼应。

　　本片出自德国新浪潮电影代表人物之一，《铁皮鼓》导演沃尔克·施隆多夫之手，是一部向法国著名导演让·梅尔维尔致敬的经典作品。影片描写第一次世界大战期间，高贵的索菲女伯爵爱上了一位普通士兵，但动荡的时代，因为这段恋情却给两人带来了可怕的灾难，影片悲伤而凄凉，是导演沃尔克·施隆多夫除《铁皮鼓》以外，最被人认同的大师作品……
